 Social Media 

During my time working on the social media team for BBC Childrens I have consistently created relevant and high performing content, have pushed the boundaries of Instagram stories, and have persistently ensured that the idea of diversity and positivity is at the heart of everything we create.

My approach to social media can be defined by these four words: positivity, diversity, interactivity and relevance.

Positivity. Social media can be a dark place, especially for the younger audience of CBBC. My passion and ethics lie in using social outlets to create safe-spaces where people can feel accepted, be encouraged to be themselves, and have fun.

Diversity.  Showcasing a diverse representation of people and ideas is hugely significant - especially to young audiences. I believe people should see themselves and their lives reflected in the content they see so that they feel seen and accepted. My digital content celebrates things like Eid, Black History Month and LGBTQ+ Pride.

Interactivity. I recognise that interactivity is truly at the heart of all well-performing content on social media, and it is this that I try to implement into everything I create for this medium. 

I personally led and undertook a project delving into Instagram stories and how they can be improved. I reported my findings to the team and led the implementation of more interactivity into our stories. My research and work on this topic directly led to an increase of Instagram followers from around 68,000 to over 81,000. 

Relevance. In the social media world it is imperative to stay relevant and relatable to your audience. My work with BBC Children's has involved creating memes and referencing current popular culture to keep our content in-line with not only the content our audiences are engaging with, but also the content that they may be creating themselves.
